Parliament reconvenes today, October 15, 2024, at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) to commence the fifth meeting of its fourth session. The temporary relocation is due to ongoing renovation works in Parliament’s main chamber, which typically hosts parliamentary sittings.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, announced the change of venue on September 30, 2024. This session, following a brief recess, is expected to be pivotal as MPs tackle pressing national matters and advance critical legislative priorities.
Among the highlights of recent activities, Parliament, during an emergency sitting on September 3, approved a $250 million loan agreement from the World Bank to support Ghana’s Energy Sector Recovery Programme. The loan, initially rejected, was reconsidered after the government emphasized its importance in revitalizing the energy sector and promoting economic recovery.
The current session is expected to deliberate on key bills and agreements vital to national development, underscoring the urgency of maintaining momentum in legislative work even as the renovation progresses.
