Rice production in Ghana has increased steadily.
Ghana is one of the few countries that has agriculture as the backbone of its economy.

Atwiman Nwabiagya North Director of Rice Production has urged all Ghanaians especially the youth to get involved in rice production in the country.
Recently, jobs hunting is really difficult because there are no preferred jobs in the country, for that reason the Ghanaian youth should involve themselves in rice production.
Rice production in Ghana has some benefits in the country.
It creates revenue for the individual and the country as well.
Again, the director of the rice production, Mr. Maxwell Adu Poku stated that the production of rice serves as a source of employment.
As it has created a job opportunity, it will help reduce the unemployed youth in the country.
Rice producers complain that Ghanaians do not patronize local rice but rather prefer to purchase rice outside the country which has reduced the economy of the country.
Aside from that the consumption of the local in Ghana is very good for our health.
Also, Mr. Maxwell thanked the government for providing producers of local rice with motorbikes and other equipment to help boost their work.
Government should therefore reduce the importing of Rice from other countries so we can patronize our own.
