Mosquitoes are the carriers of plasmodium which causes malaria. Increase in the breeding of female anopheles mosquitoes has a potential impact on the increase in malaria cases.

Speaking with the health administrator, Adonteng Daniel, he said that the hospital has recorded number of malaria cases recently.

He added that poor sanitation is causing a rise in malaria cases. This is to say, malaria is a big concern because  is a deadly disease especially for young kids and pregnant women.

Lack of proper waste management and clean water is making it easier for mosquitoes to breed and spread the disease. It’s definitely a tough situation. The residents are complaining that their families are dying and they are spending a lot of money on treatment.

Speaking with the assemblyman of Kasoa, Kwaku Awuku John, he said the poor sanitation could cause outbreak of other diseases.

Dustbins provided five years ago are no longer in good shape for use. In addition, we don’t know where some of them are but, we will ensure that authority do the needful soon.

The residents of Kasoa are calling on the government to provide them with dustbins at vantage points. It will ensure that people will desist from the act of dumping rubbish in the gutters. Local organizations and the government are to work together to tackle this issue. They should implement initiatives like clean-up campaigns, education on proper sanitation practices, and improving access to clean water sources.

It’s going to take time, however with everyone’s effort, we can make a difference and reduce the spread of malaria. We call on all to help make Kasoa a healthier community for a healthy living.
