Reports emanating from Diaso in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region indicates that, the military personnel who have been deployed to assist in the investigations of the cause of the gruesome murder of Captain Maxwell Mahama who was in charge of the detach have taken hostage of about eighty men.
The report has also suggested that children and women have also been held hostage in a church building in the township where the military capo was killed.
The District Chief Executive(DCE) of the Upper Denkyira West District, Mr. Daniel Appianim is believed to have said in a radio interview that, “a team of military men have invaded Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region beating up residents in the area. The military men have taken hostage of about eighty men while women and children have been camped in a church in the town”.
Twist in Circumstances
There’s been a conflicting report in the media concerning the circumstances that led to the lynching of the officer which led to his demise.
As a cross section of the media has reported that, he was mistaken to be an armed robber, another has also reported that the military captain was killed due to his resilient resistance to galamsey activities in the area.
