Mahama’s gov’t lacks innovative ideas – Dan Botwe

The Member of Parliament for Okere in the Eastern Region, Daniel Kwaku Botwe says it takes a government with innovative ideas to implement policies that will help improve the economy and the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

Speaking to Atinka News in an interview after the launch of the NPP constituency campaign team at Coal Tar in the Ayesuano District of the Eastern Region on Sunday, the former NPP General Secretary said the country is facing challenges on several fronts because President Mahama and his government lack innovative ideas.

He said in sharp contrast, President Kufuor was one leader who improved the lives of Ghanaians through innovative ideas. According to him, the NPP under his leadership implemented policies such as the National Health Insurance, Capitation Grant, Metro Mass Transit, School Feeding Programme, LEAP, Mass Cocoa Spraying, National Youth Employment Scheme, among others. These policies brought relief to many Ghanaians, he argued.

Mr. Botwe added that President Kufuor introduced the Ministry of Children and Women Affairs (Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Protection) to promote the rights of women and children. “These are the innovations I’m talking about. As for infrastructural development like building roads, schools and others, every government from Guggisberg’s time has done that,” he said.

According to him, an Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government will replicate such innovative ideas and even add more to improve the lives of the people.

He called on all members of the party to work hard to ensure that the NPP wins the November 7 polls to rescue Ghanaians from economic hardships.
