Mahama Pledges Affordable Healthcare and Free Sanitary Pads Initiative Under Next NDC Government

John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to prioritize accessible and affordable healthcare if elected in the December polls.

Speaking at the commissioning of a new maternity and children’s ward in Bodom, Nkoranza North, alongside his wife, Lordina Mahama, Mahama emphasized his plan for universal free primary healthcare to address rising healthcare costs and infrastructure gaps, particularly in underserved areas.

“Many Ghanaians cannot access the medical care they need due to prohibitive costs,” he noted. “The next NDC government will make healthcare more accessible and affordable for all, regardless of socioeconomic background.”

Mahama also introduced a new initiative to support female students’ education, promising a free sanitary pads program aimed at reducing school absenteeism among girls. “We want to ensure that girls can attend school without barriers, and providing sanitary pads will be one way to help them do that,” he said.

These commitments underscore Mahama’s focus on social interventions to improve healthcare and education access across Ghana.
