Police in Kumasi have seized a large quantity of stolen insecticide treated nets.
The nets procured by the Ghana Health Service were to be freely distributed to households to fight malaria.
The Police retrieved the stolen nets from an apartment at Sabon –Zongo in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital upon a tip-off. 3,250 pieces of the treated nets have been seized in total.
A 35-year-old Burkinabe Sidibe Hussein has also been arrested over the incident.
Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed that the nets were to be smuggled to neighbouring Burkina Faso.
The Kumasi Police have also mounted a search for another Burkinabe who is believed to be an accomplice.
