On Tuesday, February 11, the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced that Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show at Super Bowl LIX has become the most-viewed halftime performance in history.
Once again, we’ve broken the record! With 133.5 million views, it became the most-watched Apple Music Halftime show in history, the company announced on Instagram.
Fox Sports reported that Lamar’s halftime show drew an average viewership of 126 million, surpassing the audience of the Big Game itself.
By becoming the first rapper to perform solo at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Lamar also surpassed Michael Jackson’s legendary 1993 performance, which drew an audience of 133.4 million viewers.
Furthermore, his performance attracted a larger audience than Usher’s, who recorded 123.4 million viewers the previous year.
Bringing out all the stars, including Samuel L. Jackson, SZA, Serena Williams, and Mustard, the Pulitzer Prize-winning MC primarily played songs from his 2024 Billboard 200-topping album GNX, including his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 tracks “Squabble Up,” “Peekaboo,” “Luther” (with SZA), and “TV Off.”
