The Police in Kasoa have arrested about 110 persons for failing to wear nose masks.
The arrests were made during an exercise by the police within the Central Business District of the Kasoa municipality.
The exercise was to ensure strict compliance of the wearing of nose masks protocol in order to ameliorate the spread of the coronavirus.
Speaking to Pinknews, Divisional Commander of the Kasoa police, Chief Superintendent of Police Charles Koosono, mentioned that, “the exercise shall be carried out within the entire municipality by officers of the service to ensure that people follow religiously the Covid19 safety protocols”.
On the fate of the arrested persons, he said, “they have been forced to buy some of the masks and put it on” whilst they were detained at the CBD police station.
He said, they will be cautioned and made to sign bonds and later released.
He however sent caution to residents and visitors of Kasoa to always put on nose masks in order to avoid any trouble since culprits shall be made to face the full rigours of the law.
The exercise was supported by the District Police Commander Superintendent Samuel Odame.
There has been a spike in the active cases of the Covid19 pandemic in the country.
In a recent update, President Akufo Addo, admonished Ghanaians to protect themselves and others by obeying the mask wearing protocols.
He hinted of a possible lockdown should the cases keep soaring higher.
Meanwhile, a partial lockdown which was enforced last year had a very negative impact on the economic state of Ghanaians and the country’s economic structure.
However, most Ghanaians continue to flout the Covid19 safety protocols as the Ghana Health Service has attributed the recent spike in cases to activities of the previous Yuletide.
Preaident Akufo Addo in his last address also encouraged the law enforcement agencies to ensure that the protocols are been complied to by Ghanaians.
