KASOA, A MAJOR TRADING CENTER NEEDS NATIONAL ATTENTION NOT CHAOS!

KASOA, A MAJOR TRADING CENTER NEEDS NATIONAL ATTENTION NOT CHAOS!

Says Dr. Kwame Afaglo, an Economist.

Kasoa as a major trading center needs maximum National attention and not chaos says Dr. Kwame Afaglo to Pink Fm’s Kusi Damoah, the host of Omanbapa kasa in an interview.

Dr. Kwame Afaglo told listeners that most imports and exports trading in Ghana have kasoa as its centerpiece. The country benefits a lot from trade than other sectors. Kasoa also generates a lot of revenue from trade solely. The Economist referred to traders and farmers who visit the town for trading. Most farm produce finds its way to the kasoa market. And due to the affordability of these products, they are quickly sold out. It can therefore be termed as an economical goldmine of the nation. Dr. Afaglo emphasized that foreigners might come directly to trade in kasoa in coming years.

Recent disturbances and chaos in the town will not benefit the nation economically. This violence if not curbed at the earliest, would become a danger to trade. The Economist stated that the pandemic has caused a huge decrease in revenue derived from trade. Consistent violence might also prevent traders and farmers from visiting Kasoa. This in turn will decrease revenue generated from trade in the town says Dr. Afaglo.

Kasoa needs Stability not chaos

Stability in Kasoa is important to the Ghanaian economy in these crucial times. There will be poverty in the town if the violence persists. Dr Afaglo entreated the IGP to enforce the laws and ensure security of the town. He requested that the security personnel in Kasoa change office. This is due to the inability of security personnel to maintain peace in Kasoa.

The nation needs to give maximum attention to Kasoa. The Economist cited proper housing schemes and better roads as some of kasoa’s needs. Ghana ought to ensure it puts Kasoa’s interest above individual and political interests. Dr Afaglo in his submission proposed that crime rates be reduced as well as unnecessary disturbances and chaos in Kasoa.

The Economist also commended transportation service in Kasoa. Dr. Afaglo mentioned that a lot of revenue is earned from kasoa’s transport services. “Transportation services are leading in revenue. Transport service in Kasoa is more than that of Tema Station to the best of my knowledge. If what increases your revenue is in Kasoa, why neglect your money hub?”
