I am involved in next season’s preparations

Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Leicester City, Louis van Gaal has claimed he is part of Manchester United’s preparations for next season.

The Dutchman’s claim isn’t necessarily a surprise since he has already suggested he believes he can save his job with an FA Cup victory and a top-four finish.

Furthermore Van Gaal’s contract with the Old Trafford club is set to run for one more season until June 2017.

When asked whether he was involved in United’s plans for both summer signings and pre-season plans, the Dutchman responded in his usual straightforward manner.

“Of course I am involved in preparing for next season because I am the manager” he commented.

Van Gaal’s statement is unlikely to quell further Jose Mourinho speculation but it does show the confidence the Dutchman has in his own job security.
