The behaviors of some Senior High School students will not help improve the country some years to come
This is because, some students of Nyinahin Catholic School burnt down dormitory after their final paper which is an indiscipline act. In an interview with the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North who also doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education
Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo says, ‘the acts of some SHS students who recently completed school are very bad’.
She says we are in a country where we always talk about child right forgetting about their responsibilities as a child which is a problem we have in the country and is increasing indiscipline in SHS.
So the child feels that, anything he or she wants is their right.
Also, we are in a country where the little opportunity older people get to talk on radio stations, they say things which doesn’t help to educate children.
Parents have thrown away their responsibilities. In the interview, Hon. Gifty says,’ we have some stakeholders in the upbringing of a child where the child is also a stakeholder’.
The government has to make sure there are school buildings, uniforms, foods and also teachers to teach the children.
But parents should also see to it that, the child is on the right path and let the child the know the benefit of education.
Also, the only benefit the government will get is that the child won’t be a school dropout.
She says, it is not free SHS that has ban corporal punishment in the various schools but it is the National Teaching Council and it has been banned for some years now.
The culture of indiscipline starts when the child is in primary and JHS whiles staying with their parents and so people shouldn’t attach free SHS to the indiscipline acts of some students.
And so children learnt the practice whiles staying with their parents attending JHS.
Parents and teachers should help in the up bringing of the child which will reduce the high rate of indiscipline acts in SHS.
