Accra Great Olympics stunned Asante Kotoko in Sogakope to breathe life back into their chances of survival while dampening the Porcupine Warriors’ title credentials.
Two first half goals from Michael Osei and Emmanuel Akesseh gave Olympics a deserving victory that has now pushed them out of the bottom three.
Olympics started the day in the relegation zone but it took only 8 minutes for them to make their mark, with former Kotoko defender Christopher Nettey setting up Osei to nudge home the opening goal.
Olympics doubled their advantage six minutes from the break through Emmanuel Akesseh, who pounced on a rebound after Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare fumbled a close range effort from Osei.
Olympics jump two places to the 14th position on the league standings with 35 points, just one above the last three teams.
Kotoko remain eight points adrift of the top spot occupied by Aduana with their hopes of defending the league title drifting further away.
