A speeding tipper truck collided with a Kia Rhino with registration numbers GS 6823-17 and WR-566-16 on Kasoa Road, heading towards Winneba.
It happened in the Gomoa East district assembly at the Gomoa Dominase junction.
Two other people are currently receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialized Hospital in critical condition, while one individual, who happened to be the driver’s mate for the Kia Rhino, died instantly.
Observers at the site noticed that the tipper truck was traveling too fast and was unable to brake when the Kia Rhino was entering the roadway, which led to the accident.
Nana Kwao Adofrakye, the Omankrado for the Gomoa Akyampim traditional council, has issued a warning to motorists to stop speeding and follow the rules of the road.
To lessen the frequent accidents in the area, he has urged the Ghana Highway Authority to build speed ramps on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.
