Germany players agree bonuses for Euro 2016 victory

Germany players have agreed a bonus structure for Euro
2016 which will see them cash in if they win the tournament but go
home with nothing should they make an early exit.
The squad will pocket 300,000 euros (348,000) per player should they
emerge victorious in France, the German Football Association (DFB)
said Thursday.
A loss in the final would bring 150,000 euros, the semi-finals
100,000 euros and the quarter-finals 50,000 euros. Losing in the last
16 or failing to make it out of the group would see the players paid
nothing.
The sums match those on offer to Germany players from the last Euros
in 2012 despite the team winning the 2014 World Cup in the meantime.
“It speaks for the character of the team that we could mutually agree
on a moderate, reasonable settlement so quickly,” DFB treasurer
Reinhard Grindel said following negotiations with the players’
committee and captain Bastian Schweinsteiger
