Galamsey has been the talk of the country for sometime. It has brought negative impacts on the country not disputing that there are positive impacts as well.
The quest for money is what has caused majority of the youth to engage in galamsey. Galamsey has destroyed water bodies, lands, natural environment and general health.
Galamsey has also generated money or individuals who engage in it. In as much as individuals who engage in galamsey benefit, the negative effect is more.
If we can be able to heal our land, there should be effective law enforcement and strict regulations should be set.
Chiefs should set rules and beheld responsible for any illegal activity that goes on in their communities.
Citizens should also be responsible and care for the environment and themselves. Knowing that galamsey activities have dangerous effects on humans and the environment, if individual turn to be more responsible for the environment the we can reduce galamsey activities.
Individuals who reside in communities where galamsey activities take place should be involved in the fight against galamsey to help eradicate the problem.
The money obtained from galamsey activities only benefits relatively few people but the negative effects outweighs the positive. Hence it would be of benefit to the general public if we can put an end to galamsey activities.
