GAB URGES CUSTOMERS TO MAKE USE OF DIGITAL CHANNELS IN BANK TRANSACTIONS

The Ghana Association of Bankers(GAB) has urged customers to resort to using digital channels for banking transactions following the incident that occurred on June 14, 2021.

On June 14, 2021, police officer and hawker were attacked by unknown gunmen at Adedenkpo, a suburb of Jamestown.

The police officer was on duty as an escort of the bullion van for the bank.

The hawker on the other hand was a bystander who witnessed the incident

The driver of the van sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital.

In a press release by GAB, the Association sympathized with all affected by the incident.

GAB also stated that members of the association have had interactions with top hierarchy of National Security.

The Ghana Bankers Association however urges customers to make use of digital channels when dealing in banking transactions.

This is to minimize the use of cash as they work towards issues of security.
