Five passengers have died on the spot, while seven are also in critical condition in head- on collision at Gomoa Adam near Gomoa Anteadze on the Kasoa – Cape Coast highway in the Central Region.
The accident involved in two passengers’ car, a Ford Transit with the Registration number GS 6031- 20 and a Toyota Hiace with the Registration Number GR 5059-20. According information fourteen people were involved in the accident but five people died on the spot, seven people are also in critical condition and receiving treatment at Apam Catholic Hospital while two treated and discharge.
In an interview with pinknews Mireku Nyampong, one of the passengers who survived in the Toyota Hiace passengers car, Issah Abubakar revealed that, he boarded the car from Kasoa heading to Cape Coast on upon reaching a section of the road, he saw the Ford Transit doing a wrongful overtaken and in the process collided with their car.
Meanmeahile the Apam District Fire Commander DO1 Adolf Ankomah Nuamah who spoke with pink news discribed the accident as one of the horrible he has witness. He however advise drivers who applied the kasoa-cape road to reduce the speed and the wrongful over taking which is leading to lost of lives on the highway.
Furthermore, Medical Superintendent of Apam Catholic Hospital Dr Paul Acha indicated that, the 7 people who were on critical condition needs to be referred to a bigger Hospital but no hospital is not ready to admit them due to lack of space.
