Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, has strongly condemned the armed robbery that occurred at the Adabraka Market on November 2, 2024.
Four masked men brazenly attacked a man in a red Toyota Corolla and stole large amounts of cash in broad daylight.
The robbers fired multiple gunshots to disperse bystanders before fleeing the scene with their loot, leaving residents in shock and raising significant security concerns as Ghana approaches its general elections.
“This is the second time of such incident in four months, and it’s very worrying,” Dr. Rawlings stated at the crime scene.
She expressed alarm over the easy access to weapons by criminals, particularly with the elections less than 36 days away, highlighting the implications for public safety.
Dr. Rawlings has called on the Ghana Police Service and the Ministries of Interior and National Security to take urgent action to protect citizens, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the use of illegal firearms.
“The types of weapons these individuals are carrying raise questions about the legality of firearms in our system,” she noted.
As Deputy Ranking Member on the Select Committee on Security and Intelligence, Dr. Rawlings pledged to advocate for measures to address the growing threat of armed robberies and enhance security in her constituency
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt for the suspects and assured the public that they will be brought to justice.
