Don’t run Ghana’s security on the back of prophecy – Opuni

The Christian Council of Ghana has called on Ghana’s security agencies not to reduce the country’s security to prophecies and predictions.

According to the General Secretary of the Council, Rev. Dr. kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, the security of every nation should be run by professionals who understand issues about intelligence and can manage it.

He however questioned the security agencies’ preparedness to ward off possible terror attack in Ghana.

There is uneasy calm among a section of the public following a declaration by Nigeria-based Prophet, T.B. Joshua that Ghana is likely to suffer a terror attack this month.

“I see Thursday, Friday. Pray for these two nations – Nigeria and Ghana – over gathering in any way; over attack. I am seeing attack and that will be in a foreign way. The attack will come not in a local way. So please open your lips and pray for these two nations for protection” he told his congregants on Sunday in Nigeria.

But Rev. Opuni-Frimpong told Martin Asiedu-Dartey on TV3 Midday Monday that our security should be prepared at all times.

“Prophecy or no prophecy, the security of the nation should not be run on the back of prophecies.

“Professionals must be up and doing; and somebody must call those who must make sure that our security, our roads, our hotels, our churches are all secured must be up and doing.”

Though a believer of prophecy, Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong felt Prophet T.B. Joshua could have adopted a more discreet way of divulging such sensitive information.

In cases such as this, “like-minded Christians [prophets]” should be assembled to conduct a reality check on the vision. If it is proven that it is of God, intensive prayers are offered for God’s intervention, he suggested.

After the prayers, those with direct responsibility of ensuring the security of the state would then be informed to tighten their security measures.

However, he cautioned, “what we tell people in authority should not determine the security direction of the nation”

He was also worried that the way people drive tainted V8 vehicles without being checked at police barriers and flagrantly flouting traffic rules, should inform the public that “we don’t need a prophet to even come and prophesy to us that we are compromising our security”.
