Analyzing the idea of sex before marriage, should it be encouraged?
Research has it that sex has some health benefits such as lowering blood pressure, decreasing depression and anxiety, better sleep amongst others.
Is it advised to have sex before marriage?
Faith has a lot to say about sexual boundaries an individual has to set before marriage. Some beliefs expect individuals to keep themselves for the big day.
Some pastors preach against the act of fornication, quoting Bible verses like Songs of Solomon 8:4 and Exodus 22:16.
The Quran addresses fornication or premarital sex as absolutely forbidden and attracts severe consequences, Quran 24:2.
Some individuals strongly agree with having sex before marriage, saying it help individuals assess the sexual compatibility with their partners.
They go on to say it helps prevent creating distance in marriage due to lack of sexual attraction.
Again, some people argue that it is advised to engage in sex before marriage in order to identify sexual problems.
Having sex before marriage enables individuals to identify sexual problems of their partners or themselves , helping them to know how to work their way around before marriage.
While some people agree with the idea of sex before marriage, others also disagree.
Stating that engaging in the act of fornication creates pressure to continue the involvement due to emotional attachment that might have be formed. This makes it difficult to back out of the relationship when feelings change.
They also go on to say that, individuals who engage in sex before marriage often have issues choosing partners or settling down in marriage due to past experiences.
Sex before marriage can also lead to unwanted pregnancies and the contraction of sexually transmitted diseases.
Considering these religious, health, social and psychological factors, should the idea of having sex before marriage encouraged or discouraged?
