In response to recent concerns about its impartiality, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to holding transparent and credible elections on December 7.
Addressing findings from a report by Afrobarometer and CDD-Ghana that suggested waning public trust, EC Deputy Chairperson Dr. Eric Bossman Asare insisted that these concerns are unwarranted.
Dr. Asare highlighted the EC’s proactive steps to ensure electoral integrity, including the use of advanced biometric systems, intensive poll staff training, and stringent oversight at polling stations. “Ghana is one of the best on the continent for electoral quality,” he stated, urging the public to look at the EC’s record of past successful elections.
He reassured voters of the Commission’s transparency and dedication to accurate vote counts and reporting.
