The shooting which happened on 18th July 2020 lead to the demonstration at Gomoa Buduburam.
A young man called Precious was shot and killed at the Gomoa Buduburam taxi round. According to eyewitnesses, the victim was holding two cutlasses. At 2 am that Saturday morning, Precious were harassing people saying”someone is after me” therefore he was looking for the person who is wanting to take his life. Meanwhile, eye witnesses didn’t see anyone with him at that moment.
A danger call were made to Kasoa Divisional patrol team. The team arrived at the scene immediately after the danger call and saw the victim with two cutlasses. The team, whose aim was to disarm the victim lead to the shot in his right leg. But he grew more aggressive rather. The team later shot the victim in his left arm.Thus, leading to his death.
The victim who was also identify as a 27 year old Nigerian, left behind a two month old baby boy. At 6 am, the Nigerian citizens were demonstrating at the Gomoa Buduburam police station. According to them, their friend/brother came to report the issue that someone is after him and was not harassing people. They added”our friend is not mad to be chasing people here and there with cutlasses”.
Due to how intense the demonstration was, the Gomoa Buduburam police had to call the kasoa Divisional patrol team. The team had to shot some warning shots. This also lead to the arrest of two girls who are still in police cell at kasoa police station. One of the citizens were naked with weapons asking”I thought they said police are our friends, and they are responsible for protecting us?” The Nigerian citizens are saying, they want justice for their friend.
