Customers of DKM Writes a Letter to President Akufo Addo

AN OPEN LETER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA- IN MATTERS OF DKM PAYMENT

Your Excellency- President of this great republic, we refuse to be calmed even though we wish to be welcomed into your home this morning once again.

We are a coalition of affected DKM customers whose plight you sort to redress during your last State of the Nations Address on 20th February, 2020. We had until then relied on the hope of your campaign promise to ensure all monies are duly paid to us.

This hope has indeed grown bleak after listening to your able Finance Minister-  Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta yesterday who was completely silent on the DKM matter in the Mid- Year Budget Reading.

What has become of the promise made to us for full payment by the Vice President in his Town Hall meeting at KNUST?

What has become of your own promise to the Chiefs (Nananom) and people of the Bono East Traditional Council for full payment of the principals of the affected DKM customers? Mr. President.

But above all, what has become of the promise you made to the entire nation during your State of the Nation’s Address (SONA) in 20th February, 2020 about DKM?

We find it worrying why nothing is been said about DKM. Is the government lying to us? Our brothers and sisters from the media, it is important to draw your attention to the fact that apart from the 10% of our principals that the previous administration paid to us, we have not received any amount by this government even though they comfortably utilized the collapse of DKM to assume office.

The Mid- Year Budget Reading on microfinance was stated for between 2017- 2020, leaving out 2015 the year DKM SUFFERED this fate. We find the whole thing preposterous to suggest that a registered company under Bank of Ghana’s supervision could drag unsuspecting customers through this harrowing situation under their watch and yet we have to bear the brats. Isn’t 5years enough suffering?

We have reached out to the authorities in this regard but nothing has come out and as the commander in chief of this republic, we find it appropriate to draw your attention to this development.

Your Excellency, we have incessantly suffered the difficulty this DKM fall-out left us with since May 11, 2015. We are not slapped by only this but also, the horrors of the Covid-19 pandemic. You can imagine how deep our wounds are now.

We pray you to kindly direct the authorities to expedite action towards payment just as you promised. You rode on this to assume this political height and posterity can attest to this. Let not your words fall flat before your subjects (i.e. Citizens) who have reposted trust in you. We are in an election year once more and pray you to do due diligence.

Thank you, Your Excellency.
