Carlos Queiroz named new Egypt Head Coach

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have appointed Portugal’s Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the country’s national team.

His appointment comes after the EFA sacked head coach Hossam El-Badry on Monday following the team’s 1-1 draw with Gabon the day before.

The 68-year old previously handled Portugal’s national team on two occasions, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Iran and Colombia.

At club level, Queiroz has managed the likes of Real Madrid where he won the Spanish Super Cup and spent two spells as Alex Ferguson’s assistant manager at English Premier League club Manchester United.

He is expected to arrive in Egypt later this week.
