BUDGET OF 2018 FISCAL YEAR TO BE PRESENTED TOMORROW BY FINANCE MINISTER

The budget for the next fiscal year is expected to be read on the floor of the parliament tomorrow by the finance minister,Hon Ken Ofori Attah
Christened  “Adwuma” budget according to what Pinknews has gathered, it is expected to cater for key government policies and interventions as well as giving a clue on how government intends to strengthen the economy.

Even before the presentation, the minority at a press conference yesterday has started kicking against some components of the budget.

At a press conference yesterday, the minority MPs accused government of imposing tax on “chop money” by stating that “the government intends to intends to introduce taxes on mobile money transactions by the network operator in the country in the 2018 budget and economic policy with sole objective of mobilizing enough resources internally for developmental projects”.

Meanwhile, a policy analyst, Osman Rahim Hassan has stated that the ‘Asempa’ budget could not effect the expected changes in the economy as it was been aspired by many Ghanaians and government after its reading and therefore urges government to ensure that the economic policies reflects on the activities in the various areas of the economic sector.

Speaking in an interview on Pink FM, the Chief Director of Finders Forum a think tank, Mr. Ousman predicted a decline in the provision of good roads and a struggling health sector in the next fiscal year due to the implementation of the Free SHS policy.
