A 21 years old boy, Joseph Opoku, has been brutalised in Kasoa for possessing an NDC flag.
According to the boy who is a resident of Koforidua, he was hired by a construction firm which is constructing drains within the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
Giving account of his ordeal, Joseph explained that on Wednesday whilst he was at work, a couple of NDC supporters who were canvassing for votes through a walk passed by and whilst they were passing a flag of the party fell of which he picked from the ground.
His action attracted some members of the New Patriotic Party who questioned him on why he picked the flag.
According to Joseph, the said NPP members placed a phone call and in a few moments a convoy of about four vehicles arrived at the scene. He said, a woman who is fair in complexion alighted from one of the vehicles and ordered some men who were with her to beat him.
Joseph also revealed that, hitherto the assault which has caused him an unbearable bodily pains, he had no knowledge of the personality of the said woman until someone told him after the assault that the woman is the MP for Kasoa.
Joseph also mentioned that the MP who also doubles as the minister of special development initiatives, Hawa Koomson, asked his foreman to lay him off immediately.
In response, the MCE for Kasoa, Michael Mensah even though he confirmed the assault incident described the boy’s action as provocative. He also alleged that the boy was hired by the chairman of the NDC in Kasoa, Stephen Agyare to sabotage the NPP government.
However, further checks made independently by Pinknews have confirmed that, Joseph Opoku was actually brought from Koforidua by a construction firm for the construction of gutters in Tetegu in the Weija-Gbawe municipality but was moved to Kasoa by his foreman on Monday since their company had secured another contract in Kasoa. He thus could not have had any encounter by either the Kasoa constituency chairman of the NDC or any other member of the NDC.
A visit to the site where Joseph was manhandled by some thugs at the order of the minister also revealed that, the foreman was also assaulted by the hoodlums. His offence according to the MP and the said attackers was watching his worker pick an NDC flag from the ground.
