The Electoral Commission has released a press statement confirming that “a ballot issuer at the Temporary Booth Biyiri Polling Station in the Techiman South District tore off the head of the Presidential Candidate of the the New Patriotic Party while issuing 15 ballot papers to voters”.
Mr. Joseph Derry the ballot issuer is currently in police custody. The Electoral Commission has promised to get to the bottom of the matter corporating with fully with the police.
In the press release the Commission warns that all Election officials who violate their processes and electoral laws will be prosecuted and not shielded.
They further went on to urge the public to remain calm and report any incident to the police or call the commission Toll Free number 0800324324.
