Baba Rahman, Boye, Wakaso and Afful return to Black Stars squad for Sudan qualifiers

Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor has named his 23-man squad for the double-header 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan in November.

The squad includes Baba Rahman, Mubarak Wakaso and John Boye who are all returning to the team after over a year absent, having last featured at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

US-based experienced right-back, Harrison Afful, who last played for the team in 2018, has been called-up for the the crucial qualifiers next month.

Akonnor has also handed a debut call up to German-born, 19-year-old winger, Jamie Leweling who plays for Greuther Fürth in the 2. Bundesliga.

The likes of Bensong Annang, Alexander Djiku and Tariqe Fosu have been rewarded with a return after they impressed in friendly against Qatar earlier this month.

Captain Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey are also in the squad.

The Black Stars will face Sudan on November 12 in Cape Coast and play the North Africans five days later in Khartoum.

They lead Group D with six points from their first two games, having beaten South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe last year November.
