Atletico Madrid rejects 400 million euros

No fewer than five Atletico Madrid players have attracted offers of a combined 400 million euros since the Champions League final on May 28.

It was another day of heartbreak in Milan, with Los Rojiblancos losing on penalties in Milan after a 1-1 draw in extra time.

Goals from Sergio Ramos and then Yannick Carrasco set up Cristiano Ronaldo to net the winning spot kick to start the celebrations for La Undecima.

The likes of Jan Oblak, who conceded just 18 goals all season in the league, and Antoine Griezmann, scorer of 30 goals in all competitions despite missing a penalty in the final, are those said to be the subject of offers.

Diego Simeone’s future is also reportedly under a cloud of doubt, but it seems holding onto their big name players is Atleti’s foremost concern, alongside deciding on their own budget for this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, La Liga rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid and the newly strong Chinese Super League offer the biggest threat to keeping the squad together.

Having cashed in on a number of stars, including Fernando Torres, Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao, sales may seem inevitable, but the club will be keen to ward off interest so to build on this season’s positivity.
