Ashalaja is a farming community in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra.

To that effect the divisional Zongo chief of Ashalaja Alhaji Yusiff Taihru is appealing to the government for help. This is as a matter of urgency to provide portable drinking water in the area.

Chief Sariki Alhaji Yusiff Tahirum made this disclosure to pinknews in an interview with Mireku Nyanmpong. This is during celebration of “Sallah Fest” and his 8th anniversary of enstoolment  as Zongo chief in Ashalaja.

Further information proves that residents of Ashalaja are facing serious health issue due to this situation.

Also apart from the sachet water which the poor cannot afford the whole community depends on the only river available called “Okuja”.

The chief used this as an opportunity to call for peace and unity among the Zongo leaders. This is to promote development in various Zongo communities.

Again the the Zongo chief of Gomoa Nyanyano Sariki Alhaji Awudu Issaka Gyiwa who graced the occasion.

He used this opportunity to caution the youth to desist from drug abuse such as Indian Hemp, cocaine, tramadol and others since the youth are Ghana’s future leaders.

He has however called on the government to fight against landgaurds activities in the Central Region especially Gomoa land.
