Apprehend Culprits Involved in Kasoa Shooting Incident within 24 Hours- NDC PC

NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Naa Koryoo Okunor,  has given the police 24 hours ultimatum to arrest culprits of a shooting incident which occurred in Kasoa on elections day last year.

On December 7, a group of armed men attacked the convoy of the candidate and shot at several members of the entourage.

But since the incident, the police has failed to arrest the culprits even though enough evidence has been gathered to give a clue on who the culprits are.

Interacting with the media after visiting the Kasoa police station to get first hand information on the outcome of police investigations, she expressed disappointment in the police for failing to take action several days after the horrifying event.

“I came to find out how far the police have gone with the case but let me say that I am disappointed after coming here. It seems they’d want to treat it like the other cases without any proper conclusion” she mentioned.

She further revealed that, her outfit launched a parallel investigation into the shooting incident which nearly claimed lives and have handed over the outcome which could have been a lead to the police in arresting shooters but the police are rather dragging their feet.

“We have enough evidence, we have even provided a cctv footage which revealed the registration number of the vehicle which was used by the assassins to the police, the police themselves have also identified those guys. It has been established that they were sent by Hawa Koomson but the police have flailed to arrest these criminals because they are Hawa’s boys. Let me also add that, that same vehicle was at the scene where my constituency secretary, Amadu Tuariq was attacked” she added.

Speaking further, she cautioned the police in trying to make the case foolish by transferring the docket to the regional headquarters in Cape Coast.

“We have heard the region wants to take over the case, that is more striking because anytime cases are transferred to them. A clear example is the matter in which Hawa Koomson herself admitted that she fired gunshots at the steps to Christ registration center. And now they’d want to destroy this case also. But let me assure the police that if they fail to arrest these criminals in 24 hours we’ll advise ourselves” she revealed.

Various forms of political related crimes have occurred in Kasoa. Several victims have sustained gunshot scars and machete scars but sadly, not even a single person has been arrested and prosecuted by the police in Kasoa. Political violence is rising beyond its highest pinnacle in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.
