Annoh-Dompreh Denies Allegations of Unauthorized Entry to Parliament

Majority Chief Whip Refutes Claims of Breaching Parliamentary Protocol

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, has dismissed accusations by Minority Chief Whip Governs Kwame Agbodza that he was “smuggled” into Parliament ahead of today’s crucial sitting. Agbodza, in an interview with Citi FM, alleged that Annoh-Dompreh gained early access to the Chamber through unauthorized means before the scheduled opening time of 8:00 am on October 22, violating parliamentary rules.

Responding to the claims, Annoh-Dompreh denied any wrongdoing, explaining that arriving early is part of his routine. He clarified that he entered the Chamber using regular procedures and left temporarily when cleaning staff requested to prepare the space.

“I come to Parliament early, and I went to the Chamber. I was sitting there when they told me they wanted to sweep, so I came out to stand here,” Annoh-Dompreh recounted.

He also warned Agbodza to be cautious when making public accusations, stressing the importance of order and preparation in his role as Chief Whip. “There are lessons I need to teach him; he has to learn. He should be careful when making allegations,” Annoh-Dompreh remarked. He further hinted at the strategic posture the Majority plans to adopt, stating, “There are so many ways to kill the cat. We will do anything and everything to make sure they do not walk over us.”

The exchange between the two whips comes at a tense moment in Parliament, with both the Majority and Minority vying for control amid unresolved legal issues. The controversy follows Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats as vacant, a move that has been temporarily halted by the Supreme Court.

As Parliament grapples with the implications of these developments, Annoh-Dompreh’s remarks reflect the Majority’s determination to maintain their foothold in the House and prevent the Minority from gaining the upper hand.
