AMBULANCES: RAPID RESPONSE VEHICLES OR CEMENT CARRIERS

His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has always been about rapid response to emergency cases. As a result, ambulances were distributed to the various constituencies as stated in his 2016 manifesto.

On May 31, 2021, a woman noticed that cement bags were being loaded into an ambulance. That was when she reached the Kasoa Forestry checkpoint around Biakoye.

The witness who wishes to remain anonymous. While recounting the incident, she stated that an ambulance with registration number GV-537-20 was loaded with cement bags. One would wonder why an ambulance meant to transport patients to the hospital was being filled with cement bags.

In order to get evidence to back her claims, she had to film the activity secretly to avoid being caught. The video clearly showed the cement bags being put into the ambulance.

Ambulances are medically equipped to transport patients to treatment facilities such as hospitals. They are used to respond to medical emergencies. For this purpose, they are generally equipped with flashing warning and sirens. They can rapidly transport paramedics and other first responders to the scene. Without these rapid response vehicles in the country many citizens are at the risk of death.

There should be no way these ambulances should be hijacked by a group of people for their selfish interest.  The misuse of the ambulance must go with severe punitive measures to deter people from doing so.

The populace should be made aware that their payment of tax is what is used in purchasing these ambulances. As a result, they should report anyone who does not use an ambulance for the right purpose.
