The long awaited New Patriotic Party primary to elect a Parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma West constituency for the 2016 elections is set for Saturday.
The election was delayed following confusion over the constituency’s Voters’ Register.
The incumbent Member of Parliament Ursula Owusu Erkuful comes up against Roni Nicole who is threatening to unseat the incumbent.
Speaking with JOY NEWS earlier, the Ablekuma District Officer of the Electoral Commission Joseph Addo Boateng said all is set for the polls.
“All is set for the elections. I am on my way to pick the election materials,” he said.
He denied reports the election has been called off, saying no such complaint has been brought to their attention.
“We have not received any letter asking us not to come and supervise the election,” he said.
The controversy over the voter’s register still persist with reports that constituency executives have resigned en masse.
Meanwhile, the Ablekuma West constituency is awash with posters banners and bill boards of both candidates even though those of the incumbent are imposing.
Voting is expected to begin early Saturday morning.
