Medeama Win First Away Match…

Medeama SC inflicted their Liberty Professionals their second home defeat of the first round of the season when they travelled to Dansoman on Wednesday to honour thier penultimate outstanding fixture of the first round of the season.

Akwesi Donsu struck on the half hour from a direct free kick — his third in the last three matches to hand Prince Owusu a perfect start to life with the Mauve and Yellows.

Liberty were the better side, and created the best chances, but Emmanuel Sarpong z Bernard Arthur and Latif Blessing and Shaibu Mohammed all failed to score when they were in the best position to find back of the net.

Half an hour into the game, Samuel Sarfo brought down Bernard Ofori at the edge of Liberty’s box and Akwesi blasted the ball beyond the reach of Kweku Andoh to break the virgintybic the game.

Liberty pounced forward in search of the needed equaliser, but Medeama held on for the first department of the game with their noses in front.

The second half was more of fireworks from both sides as their goalkeepers were called to duty to pull off saves to keep their teams in the game.

Kweku Andoh was the first to keep a goal bound strike from Abass Mohammed at bay before his opposite number Muntari Tagoe rose above all men the box to punch off an in-swinging cross from Emmanuel Sarpong destined to find the forehead of Kodie.

Frustrated George Lamptey brought on Bernard Arthur to add more men in front, but he blew off three glorious chances in his 25 minutes on the pitch.

And Medeama held on to win their first match away from home for the first time in two years.
