WHY A VOTE FOR F. F. ANTOH IS GOOD FOR THE NPP?

I have followed the life and success story of the 3rd National Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Frederick Fredua  Antoh, a.k.a. F.F. Antoh, for some time now even though I have never met him in person.

It is my hope that I meet this affable man and one of the most influential personalities in the country when the party gathers in Koforidua from Friday July 6 to Sunday July 8, 2018 for its 26th Annual Delegates Congress.

It will be a great day and a memorable experience in my life.

First National Vice-Chairman Post

Available records indicate that Mr. F. F. Antoh, is contesting for the First National Vice-Chairman position of the party, a position that was formally held by the Acting National Chairman, Hon. Freddie Blay, who is now contesting for the substantive position.

I would have loved it if he had contested for the penultimate position looking at the success story of one of the finest politicians in the country I have never met but hope to do so this weekend.

Alas, he is contesting for the First National Vice-Chairmanship position, a position he believes for now, is best for his political career.

Be as it may, whatever position he will occupy, his presence will be much needed than before.

Vote for F. F. Antoh

Therefore, a vote for Mr. F. F. Antoh, will be a positive one for the NPP, especially, now that the party is in power and wants to retain same as far as the 2020 general elections are concerned.

Pillar in conflict resolution

I make this submission because of the fact that Mr. F. F. Antoh, has been a pillar in the conflict resolution process in the NPP.

As the biggest political party in the country at moment, it will be worthwhile to have such a character to be at the forefront of the organization.

He is a peace builder and his success story largely hinges on his reconciliatory approach to the numerous internal party conflicts he has helped to resolve over the years.

I vividly recall the instrumental role he played in bringing to an end the crisis that hit the party following the suspension of the National Chairman, Mr. Paul Afoko, First National Vice-Chairman, Mr. Sammy Crabbe and the General Secretary of the party, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong.

Profile of F. F. Anton

Born on the 22nd of October 1954 to Mr. D.C Antoh and Madam Abena Adoma, both of blessed memory, Mr. F. F. Antoh started his basic education at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican School and then gained admission into Kumasi Academy for his O’ Level and then the Opoku Ware School for his A’ Level.

He had his tertiary education at the University of Science and Technology where he studied BSc Biology.

After his graduation, he became a teacher of Biology and was the Head of the Science Department.

This led him to become an Examiner of the subject for the West African Examinations Council.

Shell Retail Cluster Manager

He however resigned in 1997 in order to give more attention to his private business as a Shell Retail Cluster Manager and the proprietor of one of the premier hostels at K. N. U. S. T.

His vast experience in the petroleum industry, led to his nomination as a member of the Retailers Council of Shell Ghana Limited in 2016.

  1. F Antoh has served on various boards including the Ghana Civil Aviation (2004-2007) and is currently serving on the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GridCo).

Political Career

  1. F Antoh started his political career as early as 1979 in the University when he helped in founding the U. S. T Branch of the Popular Youth Association (POYA).

He was the Regional Coordinator of the Popular Youth Association in 1980.

After leaving school, he went on to become the Constituency Treasurer for Bantama Constituency then popularly known as ‘Florida’ between 1999 and 2006.

He went on to become the Regional Chairman of the Ashanti Region from 1999-2002.

Campaign Manager

During the 2000 National Elections, F. F. Antoh was the Campaign Manager of the Ashanti Region.

His zeal and devotedness to bring the New Patriotic Party into power, led to an emphatic margin difference of 768,509 votes in the Ashanti Region which represented 87% of John Agyekum Kufuor’s overall national margin difference and this was what made the difference for the New Patriotic Party and enabled them to win the 2000 elections.

In 2003, he contested for the regional elections and won a second time as Regional Chairman of the Ashanti Region.

In 2004, due to F. F. Antoh’s excellence in the 2000 elections, he maintained his position as the Regional Campaign Manager in the Ashanti Region. As Regional Chairman and Regional Campaign Manager of the party during the 2004 elections, the Ashanti Region bagged 1,404,336 votes in the National elections.

In 2007, F.F Antoh’s term of office as Ashanti Regional Chairman ended and he stepped aside to enable others to also play a role in the party.

However, during the 2008 elections, the votes of the party reduced to 1,219,530 votes.

Three terms Chairman

This was significant because Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo needed 40,586 votes to win the elections. Also, in the 2008 elections, he was chairman of the Ashanti Regional Campaign Team and a member of the Ashanti Regional Campaign Research Committee.

  1. F Antoh contested for the Ashanti Regional Chairman position again in 2010 a third time and won and led the party to the 2012 elections.

Since the inception of the party, only 5 people have assumed the position of the Chairmanship of the Ashanti Region, however it is only F. F Antoh who, through his hard work and devotion to the party, has won this position three times. Although the party lost the 2012 elections, F. F. Antoh was still determined to serve his party and went ahead to contest in the 2012 National Executives Election and got elected as the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the party. As a member of the steering committee of the N. P. P. and the D-Day Coordinator of the 2016 elections in charge of the Northern Sector, he contributed greatly in bringing the party again into power in the 2016 National Elections.

Constitutional Review Committee

He was also the chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee for the amendment of the constitution of the party on 17th December 2017.
Due to F.F. Antoh’s time as a teacher, a businessman and a seasoned politician, who has raised through the political ranks, he has gained considerable experience in dealing with people at all levels and from all walks of life.

He is very analytical and balanced in problem solving situations.

These marginal and critical qualities have served him well and thus his judgment can be well trusted.
