WE’VE NEVER HAD LEAP- AWUTU SENYA EAST MCE

Contrary to a statement made by the Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson that funds stipulated for beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) in the Awutu Senya East Municipality cannot be traced, the MCE, Dr Alhaji Nuhu Adams has said that the Municipality has never received any fund from the program and is yet to benefit since beneficiaries are now been registered.

The MP on Pink Fm’s Morning-show this morning said, she had been fighting unrelently during meetings of the Parliamentary select committee on Gender and social welfare in order to secure funds for the less privileged and poor in the constituency but has been informed by the Gender minister that they have been channeling Kasoa’s portion of the LEAP fund to the Municipality and therefore sought to find whom have been taken care of the disbursement and the beneficiaries.

“I have been questioning the minister about Kasoa’s share of the fund but she has been saying that for eight years now, they have been sending it to the constituency, so who takes care of that, I just recently heard that they were now registering beneficiaries to that effect” She said.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, the MCE for the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Dr Alhaji Nuhu Adams who spoke in a Pink Fm’s Midday News refuted the allegation describing it as a false one.

“Eight years ago this Assembly was part of the Bereku Assembly, it is now four years after the split and we have never received any fund for LEAP, It is now that the Social Welfare Department of the Assembly has been directed by the ministry to register beneficiaries” He said.
