The much awaited Vigilantism and Related Offences Bill has been finally passed by parliament.
The information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah moved the motion for the third reading of the bill. The bill will now be placed on the President’s table, awaiting approval to be passed into law.
When the President finally appends his signature to the bill, the Vigilantism and Offences Law 2019 will cease political party vigilante groups and any other act of vigilantism in the country.
The Law expected to spell out offences specific to political party vigilante groups, land guard related issues and any form of vigilantism.
The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, put the bill before the house for its approval. “The fact that the reading has been duly advertised, only when we apply, it will enhance the bill further”, he stated.
