Video: I paid for 80% of my videos, BHIM didn’t know where I lived – Kelvyn Boy

Afro-dancehall artiste Kelvyn Boy is at a loss where he wrong when it comes to his relationship with his mentor Stonebwoy.

According to him, he has tried on a countless number of occasions to meet his ‘godfather’ to resolve whatever differences there are to no avail.

“Audit”

After months of speculations, dancehall artiste Stonebwoy on Tuesday confirmed that his protégé, Kelvyn Boy was no longer with his Burniton Music Group label.

A statement released by the label confirmed speculations that all was not well between the award-winning artiste and the artiste he mentored for over a year now.

The statement said the decision to sever ties with Kelvyn Boy was as a result of an “audit” conducted by Burniton Music Group.

Speaking for the first time on the issue in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty, the ‘Mea’ hit singer said he has received the ‘dismissal’ letter and in all things he gives thanks to God.

“Its new management…maybe the new management doesn’t like me or doesn’t like the way I do my things…,” he added.

Mentor

Asked by the host what he might have done wrong for the label to part ways with him after a year and eight months of working together, Kelvyn Boy said he has no clue.

“As it stands now…I don’t know what I did wrong…Stonebwoy is my godfather…I was even a fan even before I met Stonebwoy…he has been a mentor and my greatest hero and he will forever remain my greatest hero and my mentor. I will appreciate whatever he did for me and I thought I’ve been grateful over these years…,” an unhappy Kelvyn Boy said.

He noted that he has been very loyal to the label to the point that everything he posts, it is about BHIM Nation “although some of the videos I paid with my money. I think 80% of it, I paid myself but it comes out with BHIM Nation tag because I think Stone[bwoy],” has helped him.

Everyone on the label’s management, the musician noted, was proud of him with the exception of Stonebwoy.

“I needed Stonebwoy to be proud of me…I think I have been grateful…I don’t know when and where I became ungrateful…,” Kelvyn Boy stated.

He suspects that his ‘godfather’ might have been hurt because of an interview he granted in which he said there is no real reggae and dancehall artiste in Ghana not even Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale.

“I’m very sorry. I say sorry to every dancehall artiste out there. I say sorry to Shatta Wale. I say sorry to Stonebwoy as well…,” he apologised to those who might have been offended by the comment.

Ungrateful

Since Stonebwoy unfollowed Kelvyn Boy on Instagram for being ‘ungrateful’, many questions had been asked about happenings in the BHIM Nation camp.

Reacting to the ‘ungrateful’ tag, Kelvyn Boy said he was surprised when he heard people describing him as such.

According to him, he sent Stonebwoy a message to deflate his mentor’s assertion. He revealed that he texted Stonebwoy to tell him that he is tarnishing his image.

Expressing some of his frustrations at the label, the artiste born Kelvin Brown, alleged that his label does not know where he lives till date.

Apology

A dejected Kelvyn Boy reiterated that he really does not know what he did wrong but he is more than ready to render an unqualified apology to Stonebwoy.

Stonebwoy, he said, does not answer or return his calls and after trying several times to apologise privately, he had to resort to apologising publicly.

Nevertheless, he is very grateful that Stonebwoy showed him to the world and only expected him to be proud of him.

Asked if he is now signed to Blakk Cedi’s Blakk Arm Group, he responded in the negative and explained that Blakk Cedi who was his manager at Burniton Music Group is still his manager.

Burniton Music Group’s statement last Tuesday explained that an initial one year contract they signed with Kelvyn Boy expired on January 21, 2019, but after the “audit” it has no intentions of renewing it.

“Consequently, the Company has decided to release Kelvyn Boy from the Agreement and he has been duly notified of this decision. Accordingly, Kelvyn Boy ceases to be an artiste under the Company and will no longer be associated with the Company and/or the BHIM Nation brand…,” the statement said.
