The final year students of the University of the Ghana have petitioned government to reduce their school fees especially that of public universities. They have expressed worry about the drastic increase in their fees.
According to them, they have petitioned the school authorities for too long and they have not seen any progress since the authorities are unwilling to reduce the fees. Their petitions have proved futile over the years and so they explain a reason for petitioning parliament.
Speaking to Abdalla Abdul Martin in an interview on Pink Fm morning show,he disclosed that, public universities especially University of Ghana has lacked attention when it comes to the amount they pay as school fees and so authorities have use that as a milestone to set exorbitant prices for students especially those in their final year.
As a result, they have petitioned parliament to reduce their fees and that of all other public universities.Meanwhile they have sent a letter to the Mnistry of Education and all other relevant stakeholders to consider their petition.
