UNIVERSITY OF GHANA STOPS TAKE OVER BY M.O.H

Management of the University of Ghana has strongly opposed to the decision of surrendering the newly built University of Ghana Teaching Hospital to the Health Ministry as instructed by the government.
The University of Ghana campus has over the weekend hot when national security operatives stormed the campus to take possession over the management of the newly built facility (University of Ghana Teaching Hospital), following instructions from the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu.
There is a turf war between the University of Ghana and the Health Ministry over the management of the facility since it was commissioned a year ago.

“The University is not accepting any such thing and the Vice Chancellor has made it clear to the National Security that it is not acceptable. It takes time to recruit people, we advertised in May and received 26,000 applicants out of which we shortlisted 13,000 and we’ve been interviewing them since then. We have requested government to provide a 48 million dollar loan facility to complete the entire project”, Professor Lawson said.
Professor Aaron Lawson who is the acting CEO of the UG Medical Centre told Star News, the university will not entrust management of the newly built hospital.
