U.N.D.P IN COLLABORATION WITH N.Y.A LAUNCHES YOUTHCONNEKT GHANA

The United Nations development program (U.N.D.P) in collaboration with the national youth authority (N.Y.A) has launched the Ghana youthconnekt program.

The program which is the country version of the African youthconnekt is focused at supporting and mentoring the Ghanaian youth in entrepreneurship.

At the launch the U.N.D.P President Representative, Pokya Ye Deing described the program as an essential initiative which goes in tandem with the 2030 development agenda.

Youthconnekt also serves as a fundamental tool for achieving the SDGs, especially SDGs 1, 8 and 9. We believe that the youthconnekt platform would provide the driving force for the youth to solve social, economic and environmental challenges of our time, she mentioned.

Accepting the fact that, most Ghanaian youth have the requisite innovative and creative minds, she suggested a more comprehensive program to support them in order to ensure the full actualization of these ideas.

She mentioned that the program, Ghana youthconnekt shall be fully supported by the U.N.D.P. U.N.D.P looks forward to the youth of this country, in partnership with the private sector, and philanthropist organizations to realize the full potential of the youthconnekt initiative in Ghana.

Above all, the commitment and driving force of the government would be needed in all steps along the way. The U.N.D.P Ghana country office is committed, and together we can all contribute to make youthconnekt Ghana a success.

Government commitment

The Deputy Minister for Youth and sport s, Perry Okudzeto also speaking at the launch and on behalf of the government. Okudzeto enumerated pragmatic programs implemented by government to stabilize the Ghanaian youth.

He affirmed government’s commitment to the Ghana youthconnekt program.

Speaking further, he described governments program such as free senior high school and nation builders’ corps (NABCO) as a means to sustaining the Ghanaian youth.

Perry Okudzeto also emphasized on the need to support the “large chunk” of youth in Africa to be able to harness and take advantage of the numerous resources available.
