THE SPORTS MINISTER NEVER SUSPENDED HIS DEPUTY- AIDE TO SPORTS MINISTER

Aide to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Ahmed Osman, has rubbished the Today Newspaper publication and claims made by the Journalist, Mr. Kweku Baako regarding the suspension of the Deputy Sports Minister.

Mr. Kweku Baako

Mr. Kweku Baako, Chief Editor of the Crusading Guide Newspaper, on a sister station made mention that, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah is responsible for engulfing his deputy, Hon. Pious Hadzide in the scandal surrounding the country’s participation in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Mr. Kweku Baako claims that, Hon. Asiamah in his recommendation to the President, suggested for the removal of his deputy from his post.

The Today newspaper in a headline stated, “Exposed! How minister sabotaged his deputy” relating to this same issue.

According to Mr. Osman, “the Today newspaper has got it wrong. The caption is completely misleading and it’s so unfortunate”. He added that, Mr. Isaac Asiamah, the Sports Minister had a good working relationship with his staff, including his deputy Mr. Pious Enam Hadzide.

Mr. Osman explained that, there was an alleged FIFA scandal involving some Ghanaian Olympic team during the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.  He further went on to describe that, a radio reporter claimed Hon. Hadzide, who was the Chairman of the International Games Committee, was involved in the scandal.

After some inquiries made by Hon. Asiamah regarding the issue, Mr. Osman indicated that Hon. Asiamah made a memo to the President, who “saw a merit in the memo and decided to act, by suspending the Deputy Sports Minister, the National Sports Authority Director General, including the Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority”. Hence, the Sports Minister, Hon. Asiamah did nothing wrong.

Mr. Osman included by saying that the memo presented to the President was a confidential one and Mr. Kweku Baako, who is a Journalist should “have known better” and what he said was “malicious”.

The Aide to the Sports Minister also furthered by stating that, Mr. Baako always tries to portray Hon. Asiamah as the one responsible for the suspension of his deputy anytime he gets the opportunity to discuss the Visa scandal.

Mr. Osman also characterised the act undertaken by the Today Newspaper with regards to their headline as “Lazy Journalism”.
