1.Soothing insect bites

2. Cleaning of the teeth,
Baking soda can be mixed with water or lime for brushing of the teeth. This whitens the teeth.

3.Baking soda reduces Harmful Mouth Bacteria

Studies have proved that, the antibacterial activity of baking soda makes it a potent ingredient in oral healthcare products. High concentrations of it could even result in lower levels of the bacteria in plaque and saliva which is responsible for dental decay. For a quick home teeth clean-up, mix up one part of sea salt with six parts of baking soda in a blender. Use a wet finger to cleanse your gums and teeth. Rinse off and repeat a couple of times.

4. Cleanses Face And Prevents Acne on face and skin

If you’re prone to outbreaks of pimples or acne, baking soda can act as a great natural cleanser. Because it is alkaline, it corrects any pH imbalance that could be causing acne outbreaks.

When your skin becomes clogged with dead skin, oil or bacteria, tiny pimples appear on the surface called acne. If acne is not properly dealt with, it can leave some marks and scars behind. To remove these scars from your face, use a paste of baking soda and water. Make it thick enough so that it can be easily applied to your skin. Baking soda will exfoliate the scarred skin and reveal a fresh layer. You can apply the paste two or three times in a day for 3-4 minutes and then wash off.

Mix 1/8 cup water with 1/2 cup baking soda to make a paste.

Gently apply to your face in circular movements.

Wash away with warm water after about 6 minutes of this massage.

The powdery nature of baking soda also makes it a great natural scrub for the face. It can help clear any clogging or excess oils that might lead to blackheads, dirt buildup, or, eventually, even acne.

Be warned that baking soda is very drying to the skin and you will need to properly moisturize when you are done. Also, if you have very sensitive dry skin, this may not be the best solution for you.

5. Soothes Sunburns

Baking soda is your feet’s best friend. Sprinkling some into your footwear can keep your feet dry and ward off any unpleasant odors. A foot soak with baking soda and your favorite essential aroma oil can be most relaxing while also cleaning your feet.

Soothes skin rashes

Baking soda has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Since it can dry out your skin due to its alkaline properties, you can get relief from itching and swelling that comes with skin rashes. Add coconut oil to baking soda and apply this paste for 4-5 minutes. You can apply this twice a day for a soothing effect.

6. Treats yeast infection

Candida fungus or yeast infection breeds in areas like the mouth, intestinal tract, throat or the genitals. Baking soda can help treat this infection due to its properties like alkalinity, pH balancing capacity and anti-fungal properties. If you are a victim of yeast infection in the intestine or internal organs, consume about half a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with a glass of water every day for about 10-15 days. To treat yeast infection on skin, make a paste with baking soda and water and use it on skin for 2-4 minutes and then wash off.

However, you need to use Baking soda with caution. The overuse of baking soda can cause an imbalance in your acid–base levels as well as electrolytes. Children, pregnant women, and those who use antacids regularly are especially prone to such problems.

While baking soda may seem like a simple and inexpensive fix for some common ailments, take care not to ignore what could be a more serious problem. Substituting timely medical care with a quick-fix home solution may not always be a good idea.
