IS GHANA REALLY SAFE?

The kidnappings and robbery cases is

kidnappings and robbery cases in Ghana

on the rise in Ghana.Ghana is considered one of the more stable countries in West Africa.The country has enjoyed considerable amount of peace in the fourth Republic.

Ghanaians are losing their trust in the Ghana Police Service. Events in the country that suggests that Ghana has really not been a peaceful and safe place to live in recent times includes the following;

Firstly, there has been a sudden rise of Kidnappings in the country. Most recent are; the missing Takoradi ladies of 2018 and Kidnap case of the two Canadian young ladies on June 4,2019 in kumasi.

The Canadian girls were however rescued on June 12,2019 by the Police.The Takoradi ladies have still not been found.. This raises the question: has our Police been proactive  enough with the Takoradi Girls’case?

Secondly, armed robbery has also been on the rise.Ghanaians are robbed of their valuables. Ghana has recorded a lot of robbery in this year.

Examples are the Kasoa-Accra highway robbery, Tema-Aflao highway and the robbery on the Asokwa Deportivo bus.

As a result of these rises in Kidnapping and armed robbery in the country, Ghanaians has lost trust in the Ghana Police Service.

For instance, residents in Ada says the Police must protect the Ghanaians and maintain law and order. But rather they condone crimes and undermine the security in the area.

Moving forward, the Ghana Police Service must step up their game in protecting the people of Ghana.
