Residents of Nyanyano in the Gomoa East of the Central Region have explained reasons why they openly defecate at the shore.
According to them, public toilets in the area are not safe and hygienic for them to use. This has triggered them to use the sea shore.
Again, most of the toilets are full and they are not well kept even though they pay for it. The women also accused that since the place is not well kept, they can easily be affected with diseases.
To them, they see nothing wrong with defecating at the sea shore, but rather the sea shore is more conducive than going to the public toilet.
They finally concluded that, the assembly should build more public toilets and also keep the existing ones clean if not they will continue to use the sea shores.
