Real Madrid on edge over FIFA transfer ban

It could be a busier summer than expected for Real Madrid, who may have to undertake two years worth of recruitment in one go ahead of a possible FIFA transfer ban.

Despite being arguably the world’s biggest club, Los Blancos may not escape the wrath of football’s governing body having allegedly breached rules on signing minors.

Should the confirmation go through, this summer would be their last opportunity to buy players until 2018.

Eternal rivals Barcelona were sanctioned in 2015 for a similar offence, while both Real and Atletico Madrid had bans suspended in January.

As a result, the club could be forced to plan ahead with their transfers, something that is rare for them, with the ban reportedly set to last 16 months between the summer and winter windows of 2017.

Innocence has always been maintained from their part, but having ended this campaign on such a high note by winning La Undecima, some tough times may be ahead at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
