The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kumbungu Constituency, Hon. Ras Mubarak says the MP for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong can be sacked from Parliament for insulting the Legislature as ‘cheap’.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong on his own network regarded the Parliament as ‘cheap’. Hence, Hon. Agyapong’s issue had been presented before the Privileges Committee to investigate and interrogate him to allow him explain himself.
On the Omanbapa Kasa morning show on Pink FM, Hon. Mubarak stated that, “If Hon. Agyapong is found guilty by the Privileges Committee, his seat in Parliament can be sent back, removed from the chairmanship of the Communications Committee or to the extreme, the house can be made to cast a vote to prove whether or not he should continue as an MP”.
According to Hon. Mubarak, he cannot state whether Hon. Agyapong is guilty or not, “but some of his views makes his standing as a Member of Parliament problematic”. He continued by adding that, “Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is a member of a Party, and if today he feels the party is not good enough, no one is forcing him to continue being a member”.
Hon. Mubarak furthered by saying that, it is not right for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to talk ill about Parliament to the extent of questioning the amount MPs receive as salary. He claims that, doing so “disrespects” other MPs.
He went on to complement Mr. Agyapong by adding that, he is a competent Chairman at the Committee level but “your competence at the Committee level shouldn’t give you the opportunity to rundown your colleague member of Parliament. Parliament has its own rules and regulations but the kind of things Hon. Agyapong puts out there brings the name of Parliament into disrepute”.
The freelance media publicist who doubles as a politician stated clearly that, he has no issue with Hon. Kennedy and does not wish him ill.
Although the Majority of Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has pardoned Hon. Kennedy for speaking against him in this same issue, Hon. Mubarak claimed that by pardoning Hon. Agyapong, it makes the functioning of Parliament difficult.
He finalised by saying, by forgiving Hon. Agyapong for his claims, metting out punishment to other individuals who may be found guilty of such similar accusations, may be difficult.
