“WE DOUBT TO WITHSTAND THIS RAINING SEASON”- NEW-TOWN RESIDENTS

A subdivision of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya District, Kasoa Newtown, has left it residents in doubt as to if they are safe during this raining season.

Newtown has been noted for flood due to the rise of it surrounded water bodies when it rains, thereby causing residents to be in an unpleasant emotion whenever there is a change in climate.

In the year 2017, constructions of gutters were established in order to resolve the flood condition of the various areas in Kasoa Newtown. Some gutters were completed while others are in construction till date.

However, the uncompleted gutters tend to cause more harm than good. In the sense that, they serve as a habitat for some reptiles such as alligators which impose danger to residents.

According to the residents, “although water is able to pass through the gutter, our environment still becomes waterlogged leaving the land soggy even in it dry state”.

They further expressed, “the disgusted nature of some choked points of the gutters breed mosquitoes. Therefore, the on and off behaviors of the constructors in charge of the construction must be halted and try to put in their maximum effort to ensure the rapid completion of the construction”.

The randomly unaccomplished gutters should be given the concentration in order to improve the environmental status of Kasoa Newtown.
